Hi! It was good to talk to you and I hope that we will be able to help you though the adoption process by way of foster care! I’m attaching forms to get you started along with a ‘checklist’ of other documents that we will need from you. I am going to put fingerprint cards in the mail to you – they have to be done on specific cards – and you can just mail those back here to the office when you get them done. Everything will come back to this office and we’ll get the background checks processed for you – no need to include any fees. We don’t have a pre-service training scheduled right now, but hope to in the next month or two. You will certainly be invited to attend! It’s always on a Saturday here at our office. There is also the requirement of CPR and 1st Aid for both parents, so you might want to check into what’s available in your area for that training.
Please call or email me if you have any questions! My cell number is below if you can’t catch me at the office!

Talking to Jared it sounds like the plan is to set us up as private foster parents. She said when they know the couple is wanting to adopt they try to send children who they think the parents parental rights will be taken from them. I heard Jared mention to her what age range we are wanting to adopt, but I wonder if they'll take that into consideration or if we'll end up fostering a teenage kid. I have a pack-n-play my mom used as a crib for my brother, and I know my old toddler bed should be available for me to have, but a twin size bed? Course that's looking a bit into the future, right? I don't even know yet if they'll approve of us being foster parents. I so don't want to be foster parents... I fear getting a troubled teen, or getting attached to a child just to have them taken back from me. But hey, maybe this is what we're supposed to do. We shall see....
