It's my blogiversary! I don't remember exactly what date it was that I started my blog, but according to my profile it says I joined in March 2011! So hello 3 year blogiversary! What do normal people write about on their blogiversaries? Origin stories? Let's see... where was I three years ago when I started my blog....
I was a nanny for Reed, had been for over a year already. Funny thing is, she almost didn't hire me because she feared I might get pregnant and leave them. Well... that didn't happen...
I was depressed because after over two years of marriage I still had no pregnancies to speak of. By that point for my parents... I was born and my mom would have just found out she was pregnant with the next. By the same point for Jared's parents, they also had a kid already and might have been pregnant with the next! Both our sets of parents were so fertile... but we're not....
I didn't have any friends that could relate to me! In fact I was desperate to have a female friend in our area. We had made a couple friends around here, but most of them were young immature guys. Our other friends were people who are friends of Jared's grandparents. No friends that were really peers of ours.
We had a house, a dog, a cat, two vehicles (which were not paid off yet), and Jared was on unemployment. March 2011 was a pretty stressful time! Jared had been working doing mostly remodeling and repair work with his grandpa. The plan was that Jared would take over the family construction business when grandpa retired. Unfortunately with the way the economy was changing... Papa had to retire early because they just didn't have any work coming in to do anymore. So Jared had been on unemployment most of the year up until that point. He did a little work here and there... worked on some roofs with a neighbor... He applied at several places, but no one was hiring then. We were paying our bills with my nanny income, his unemployment, and our savings. Did I mention March 2011 was stressful?! No wonder I started this blog! lol
I may still not be a mom, but life is so much better now than it was back then!
Jared is now working as an apprentice plumber. We are still far from being rich, but I no longer NEED to work!!! (Which is good because currently I'm not). We live from paycheck to paycheck, one day at a time. Looking back, even when things were so tight in 2011 we never missed a single payment on anything. I know I got bored of the foods we were eating back then, but we were never hungry. I don't believe we will ever have lots of money, but I do believe I can honestly say now that God will provide for all our needs.
We have friends! Jon & Cherish are great friends of ours down here. We became close friends with them shortly after they got married. They have two little girls now, Ellie (2yrs), and Abby (8mos). We have pretty well been adopted into their families and their friends are our friends now too. For the most part, we hang out with the two of them quite a bit.
We go to a different church now than we did in March 2011. It is very small, often having only about 20 people on a Sunday morning. The people there are much more like a family to us. It makes a big difference having them in our lives.
I struggle here and there trying not to fall back into depression about still not having any kids. I am back to searching out friends who can relate to me. Everyone that I found to relate to three years ago now has children. Even though I know they were once in my shoes, it's not quite the same as them still being in my shoes, if you know what I mean.
Anyways.... Happy blogiversary to me! =D
