I went to a health fair the other day and someone guessed my age "20 at the most". That's the first time I've been guessed out of my teens in... Have I ever been guessed out of my teens? My husband is often being guessed fresh out of high-school, and I think he looks older than me. Maybe it's a good thing I haven't been pregnant yet, people would see us and think "look another high-school kid pregnant". People always tell me it's a good thing I look so young, that I'll really appreciate it later. But me? I look forward to my first grey hairs cause then maybe I'll look more my age.
Honestly I will probably always look young for my age, my mom does and so does her mom. People have said the line to me and my mom "I thought you two were sisters!" and I've never seen it before. My mom is proud of her age and has told me she wants to look old enough to be my mom, I like that about her. Then my mom had a kid when I was 21 and a half, and I realized she was barely 21 when she had me... That makes me 6 months closer in age to my mom than to my youngest sibling! I guess we really could look like sisters...
I was telling a kid the other day about us wanting to be foster parents and how I don't want to take in like a 15 year old because I feel too close to their age. And she was all, how old are you?... 25... That's not close! lol. Then I told her I'd like to take in a kid young enough to be like my kid and not one that's more like a friend age. I would have been 10 when a 15 year old was born! I'd much rather have one that I would have been at least 18 when they were born. She seemed to understand that. I think she forgot that when she met me only a year ago she thought I was about 17. So even though I'm not "close to their age" I don't want to "look" close to the age of the kid we foster either, you know?
I can't believe I'm 25 now without any kids. I know in today's day and age that's very young to already be a mom. But when you factor in me getting married at 19... How do I still not have any kids? I'm surprised 5 years have gone by and none of my other siblings are married yet, but I'm glad it'll probably still be a while because I still hope to have kids before one of them does. We'll see...
Cheers to me only looking 5 years younger than I really am! lol
