I'm a Foster Mom

We have had a 6 year old boy, B-Man, sharing our home for the past week.  I keep going from "What have I got myself into?!" to a much more calm "We can do this!".  One week and it's already been an emotional roller coaster ride.  He's a great kid and we've already seen so much improvement in his behavior since he came into our home.  Jared told me the other day "Is it weird that I'm already attached?".  B-Man really looks up to Jared, and annoying wants to copy everything Jared does.  Ok not everything, but when it comes to things like "What do you want to drink? Milk, juice, or water?" he simply looks at Jared and asks "What are you having?" and he wants the same.  B-Man is behind in school and I'm praying they don't hold kids back in kindergarten because he'll already be an older kid in school since he's almost 7 now.  I don't know how long we will have him in our home, but I believe he'll be here all summer if not longer.  My hopes for him this summer is that we'll be able to teach him to read and otherwise get him ready for starting first grade in the fall.  We'll also work on things like sharing and taking turns, but as you know many kids need to work on that, lol.  It's very different having B-Man in our home, but for the most part it's a good different.  I really pray we can help him out and that he'll get to reunite with his family.

P.S. Pray for me as this Sunday will not only be the dreaded Mother's Day, but it will also be the first Sunday I take B-Man with me to church without Jared. (Jared has to work this one).  I don't really know what to expect, but I pray it's a good day no matter what happens.
